Music Performance

MusicLand, our performance venue at the Miccosukee Land Co-op, begins its fourth season of offering unique and intimate music performances in our listening room.  Click here for more information.

Support for performing and visual artists

This program offers help to performing and visual artists and small arts organizations by arranging reduced fee practice rehearsal and recital space at our venue. Selected dates available on first come basis through the end of December 2018. This program will be ongoing.

Building Collaboration among Artists

We are initiating a program that would convene students, artists and music producers in talking circles to share expertise and build networks.  Areas of interest are sound engineering and recording, acoustics, stage lighting and building entrepreneurship skills for artists. Experts, leaders and interested parties wishing to participate are encouraged to contact Rob for more information. Let’s bring together your expertise under our roof.

Music Education

We hope to offer arts education programs, workshops and training to students, artists, small arts organizations and the general public in the future.  We envision this program spanning visual and performing arts, creative writing, poetry and storytelling, leading to dissemination of works through postings on this site.

Practice Rehearsal and Recital Space

Fees are $85 for a half-day (5 hours) rental.  Some groups may qualify for scholarship assistance to defray the rental cost.  Groups must supply their own PA systems.  We can assist with microphones, mic stands, speaker stands and related cables.  Use the contact page to get in touch with Rob Lombardo if you are interested.

Building Collaboration Among Artists

Here’s the basic idea . .

Tallahassee is blessed with highly skilled music performers, technicians and producers.  We have two universities with music schools, high schools with advanced performance programs in choral, theatre and music, and youth programs grooming emerging artists with basic skill programs.  Our years running a music venue revealed the behind the scenes preparation needed to produce live music shows.  The people with these skills are overlooked, yet essential.  Their expertise is a valuable asset to explore and pass on to the next generations of performers and technicians.

Areas of interest . .

From the dozens of possible skill areas, we choose these to pursue.  You may have expertise in these or other areas and would like to become a collaborator.

Sound engineering and recording

The most essential aspect of live performance is the control of sound.  We have been blessed with a collaboration with Fred Chester, a long time Tallahassee sound engineer, studio owner and producer.  Are there others out there interested in learning more about this broad field of technology and artistry?  Click here to contact Rob.

Acoustics

Controlling the acoustics of a gathering space is essential for human interaction and especially performance.  We can learn how to evaluate room acoustics, explore acoustic materials, design acoustic programs and build and install acoustic panels.  Interested?  Click here to contact Rob.

Stage lighting

LED lighting is changing the performance industry.  DJ’s are expanding and improving wireless systems with amazing capabilities, and the systems run on uniform DMX program language.  Churches, music venues, theatres and schools are installing stage lighting yet there is no “program” to help them navigate the complexities of the LED genre. Interested?  Do you have expertise?  Want to share?  Click here to contact Rob.

Building entrepreneurial skills for artists

Most students graduating from our universities, whether in performing or visual arts, get very little training on how to earn a living in the arts.  COCA started their Artreprenuer program to fill this gap, but there is so much more to do.  Are you a student or working artist interested in learning more?  A working artist interested in sharing your knowledge?  Click here to contact Rob.

Let’s bring together your expertise under our roof.
