Velma Frye’s special singing circle event has also been canceled.

These cancellations also bring to a close Season 5. We are looking forward to Season 6, with our first event scheduled for September 19.

Put that on your calendar and we’ll be sending more information soon.

Thanks for your support for MusicLand and live music in our home town. All the best and stay home and healthy.

Welcome to MusicLand

Thanks for visiting us. You will find us to be a little unusual for a music venue. We are not a bar or tavern. We are striving to be a listening room. Maybe we’re a good fit for what you enjoy on an evening out.

Our music room took some time to create from many ideas and possibilities. We did have one central goal – to listen to live music as though it was being performed in your living room. Intimate, clearly delivered, soothingly quiet and lovingly performed. Even the air conditioning ductwork in the building was designed to quietly run during shows.

In September 2018, MusicLand will begin its fourth season. We’ve learned a lot and we’ve enjoyed some amazing performances by both area musicians, singers and songwriters, and touring musicians from all over the country.

We took great care and some science to create a room with almost neutral acoustics. We added a state of the art digital sound system in Season 2 and we’re working on an installation of LED stage lighting. We are small, with seating for 90, and the presentation is never too loud.

When we started, we wanted to compensate our visiting artists in the best possible way. With the help of our many patrons who support live music, we’ve been able to achieve this objective. So many changes in the recording and sale of original music make it difficult for artists to earn a living. Performing live music is profitable to a select few. Along with our patrons, we can make a difference locally.

More changes coming up at MusicLand . . .

With the influence of Canopy Arts, MusicLand is working on the following additions to our program. These include small donation events and including visual artists or music writers at our music shows.

Donation events. This year we added dates, usually on Friday nights, for smaller events for emerging artists, students, and small arts organizations. Our first donation event was the Gospel of Jazz and Soul on June 22nd. It was a great show, and the artists would like to do additional events in the future. Through donations to CAC, we support the rental of the space. Remaining proceeds go to the artists.

Including visual artists at our music shows is going to be fun and exciting. Canopy Arts partners include painters, photographers, sculptors, fiber artists, and writers. We hope to have small exhibits at our future music shows.

Season Passes, Reserved Seats
and How to buy Tickets

Our season will include 8 performances. Four in the fall – September, October, November and December – and four in the winter/spring – January, February, March and April. We occasionally add a special show, and we are expanding to include some donation only shows, but the regular season will include 8 shows. Our ticket pricing will remain at $18 per show and an occasional special show ticket for $20.

Season Punch Passes. We will once again offer season ticket packages that we call punch passes. The new punch passes will be good for the season for which it is issued. Seasons begin in September and end in April. You can purchase as many tickets as you wish, and you can use them for any of the shows. The only stipulation is you will have to use them all by the end of the season. There are lots of ways to do this. You can use them yourself, give them to friends, invite a friend to attend a show with you – any and all possibilities. We have many patrons who buy 2 tickets per show and attend with a friend or spouse. You can buy tickets for 2 shows, 4, 6 or all 8. Either way you get to choose which shows to attend.

For patrons who have active punch passes from previous seasons, we encourage you to use them, but you can still use them until they run out. This new policy only applies to new passes issued for Season 4 and beyond.

There are several advantages to punch passes if you plan to attend most if not all the shows: one check buys tickets for the number of shows you would like to attend during the entire season, and you qualify for reserved seats.

If you buy 2 season passes for all 8 shows the cost will be $144 each, or 2 for $288.

Reserved seats. If you purchase a punch pass, you can also obtain reserved seats by making a donation to our nonprofit mothership “Canopy Arts Collaborative.” For a donation of $25 to CAC, you can reserve a seat for all the performances in the season. Season punch pass holders can obtain up to 2 reserved seats. These donations help CAC offer our performance space to small arts organizations for recitals, workshops, and performances. You will receive a tax-exempt receipt from CAC for this donation.

Ticket sales are still a bit old school. In order to keep our costs down, and fairly compensate artists, we still use the old school method of writing “checks.” Yes, those little paper things your bank issues. You can send a check to us and buy tickets in advance. You can buy a punch pass (see above), which is a block of tickets purchased in advance. The punch pass saves the writing and mailing of checks for every show.

All checks for MusicLand performances should be made out to Canopy Arts Collaborative.

If you have questions about tickets, please contact Rob Lombardo.

How to buy tickets. Advance tickets can be purchased by contacting Rob. Most often tickets are $18 per show, with some special shows at $20 per ticket. Rob will hold tickets open awaiting confirmation. A check in the mail confirms your seats. Make checks to Canopy Arts Collaborative, and mail to 9601-54 Miccosukee Road, Tallahassee 32309. Rob will send you a return email when the check is received. Your name then goes on a master list for the show, and you just check in at the front door upon arrival.

You can also buy tickets at the door for $20 if seats are available, so it is always a good idea to contract Rob to find out about availability.

Purchasing tickets through a punch pass is explained above.

All tickets are general admission so seats are first come first seated. There are no bad seats at MusicLand, but if you have a group and want to sit together, make plans in advance.

Free parking at MusicLand always. Our GPS address is 9601 Miccosukee Road, Tallahassee. We have an attendant in the parking area to help you.

BYOB. We do not sell alcohol so please bring your own beverages. We do serve homemade cookies and tea at intermission.
